Stuart K Smith

Stuart K. Smith is an Ozark Attorney and Republican Candidate for the office of Circuit Judge, Place 1, within the 33rd Judicial Circuit, which serves Dale and Geneva Counties.

As an Ozark native, Stuart is a graduate of Carroll High School, Auburn University, and Thomas Goode Jones School of Law.  He is married to the former Holle Hartzog of Clayton, Alabama and they have one son, Holton.

After his graduation from law school, Stuart and Holle moved back to his hometown of Ozark where Holle opened Elevations School of Dance and Stuart practiced law with the firm of Shealy, Crum & Pike, PC in Dothan, Alabama.  In 2008, Stuart opened his law practice in downtown Ozark, where he focuses primarily on criminal defense, juvenile, domestic and personal injury cases.  Through his professional career, Stuart has experienced various areas of law, ranging from simple car accidents and personal injury cases, to multi-million dollar lawsuits and capital murder trials.

Both Stuart and Holle are highly involved in our Community. As members of First United Methodist Church, they serve on the playground committee; and, Stuart, as a past member of the Finance Committee, is currently serving on the Administrative Board and is actively involved with Upward Basketball, as a volunteer referee.  Currently, Stuart serves as Vice President of the Ozark Rotary Club, is on the Dale County Board of Directors for the Wiregrass United Way, the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Alabama, where he has twice been a recipient of the “Champion of Youth” award, and is a member of the Ozark Area Chamber of Commerce.  Stuart, as an adjunct professor at Wallace Community College, teaches Constitutional Law and serves on the Advisory Board for the Wallace College Criminal Justice Program.

One of Stuart’s favorite hobbies is being a part of the Carroll High School radio crew and broadcasting Friday night football games, as well as co-hosting the Saturday Morning Scoreboard Show.  Holle is the current President of the Ozark Area Chamber of Commerce, and is an active Board Member for Dale County’s Distinguished Young Woman Program, where she serves as choreographer.  She also serves as choreographer for many of our community and school events, such as the CHS Show Choir and The Miss Ozark Pageants.

Mr. Smith has deep roots in both Dale and Geneva Counties, both of which he would be proud to serve as Circuit Judge.  Stuart lived in Samson, Alabama until the age of 5.  His grandfather, the late Kenneth Smith, owned and operated People’s Drug Company in downtown Samson for over 40 years.  Stuart is the son of long time Ozark residents, Stan and Lisa Smith.  His Father, Stan, is a local pharmacist and his Mother, Lisa, is a long time teacher within the Ozark City School system.  Holle is the Daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Danny Hartzog of Clayton, Alabama and the Granddaughter of Kenneth Hartzog and the late Verlie Hartzog of Elamville, Alabama.

“I would really enjoy the opportunity to serve the residents of Dale and Geneva Counties, and I would appreciate your support and vote in the Primary Election on March 13th.”
